Food Sales Tax HolidayIn the 2023 legislative session Governor Bill Lee proposed, and the Tennessee General Assembly passed, a three-month sales tax “holiday” on food. From August 1 – October 31, food retailers were required not to charge sales tax on sales of food items that are regularly taxed at the 4 percent rate.
Now that the tax holiday has passed, we would like to know what its impact was on Tennessee’s food retailers.
