Federal Poster Requirements:

Beer Postings:
During the 2006 legislative session a bill was passed (SB3501/HB3060) imposing stricter penalties upon 18 to 20 year olds in possession of beer. Under the new law, an 18 to 20 year old found in possession of beer is subject to potentially losing their driver’s license.
The law also imposes responsibility on any beer retailer to post signs on the retailer's premises informing customers of the retailer's policy against selling beer to underage persons. Such signs shall be not less than 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" and shall contain the following language:
IF YOU AREN’T 21 AND ARE IN POSSESSION OF BEER, YOU COULD LOSE YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE.
The law went into effect July 1, 2006. TGCSA has the required signs in static cling and laminated formats. The static cling signs can be easily attached and removed from glass surfaces and the laminated versions can be used in areas where glass is not available such as open coolers. The statute does not state how many signs need to be posted or where they should be posted, but we suggest that the signs be posted near or on the beer coolers with the number of signs appropriate to the size of the beer cooler area. Retailers can purchase these signs for $1.00 each.
