Tennessee SNAP (Food Stamp) Distribution Will Expand to 20 Days Starting October 1

9/5/2012

The SNAP distribution schedule expanded to the first 20 days of the month beginning October 2012. Tennessee distributes over $170 million in SNAP benefits to over one million people monthly and having these benefits more equally distributed over 20 days is beneficial to the SNAP recipient, retail store employees, the store owner who can better serve the customer as well as wholesalers, manufacturers and suppliers. It benefits the SNAP recipients because retailers can better stock their store shelves and the shopping experience will be less busy during the first of the month. It also allows retailers to provide more consistent employment opportunities throughout the month to associates.
